NEISD Board approves elementary boundaries
North East ISD Board of Trustees approved boundaries for two new elementary schools on Monday, Dec. 14. Due to enrollment growth north of Loop 1604, NEISD will open Cibolo Green and Tuscany Heights elementary schools for the 2010-2011 school year.
After public input, the superintendent presented boundary recommendations to the Board of Trustees at the meeting for their consideration and action.
The following is the Board's approved attendance boundaries associated with the opening of these two schools:
Cibolo Green Elementary will be attended by: Bulverde Village (Blackhawk, Creekhaven, Point (NEISD portion only), Prestwick, Stratford, Turnberry), Cibolo Canyons (Cielos, Palacios, Suenos, Vallitas, Ventanas), Fossil Ridge, Fossil Creek, The Mansions at TPC.
Tuscany Heights Elementary will be attended by: Canyon Springs (Estates, Links, Reserve, San Miguel, Trails, Waters), Las Haciendas, Mansions at Canyon Springs, Mountain Lodge (Fairway Bridge, Mountain Lodge, Mountain Lodge Villas), Northwind Estates, Oaklands, Retreat at Canyon Springs, Summerglen, Tuscany Heights.
Stone Oak Elementary will be attended by: Claremore, Villas of Sonterra, Toscana.
Beginning with the application of these boundaries in the 2010-2011 school year, all elementary schools North of 1604 will feed a single middle school. Bush will draw attendance from Canyon Ridge, Tuscany Heights and Stone Oak; Lopez students will come from Hardy Oak and Wilderness Oak; Tejeda will draw students from Bulverde Creek, Cibolo Green, Encino Park and Roan Forest. (Enrollment capping and future boundary changes may impact future middle school attendance boundaries.)
The superintendent also provided recommendations about grandfathering, which allows some students to attend their current school next year. For 2010-2011, any current Roan Forest student may elect to remain at Roan Forest and current fifth-graders at Canyon Ridge may elect to remain at Canyon Ridge, along with younger siblings for one year. Grandfathered students are responsible for their own transportation.
