The Northern Hills Elementary School Student Success Initiative (SSI) third and fifth grade students participated in a PASS THE TAKS pep rally hosted by the Silver Stars Fox.

"Each student participated in an encouraging assembly to build their self-esteem and review key strategies," said Wilma Payne, SSI principal.

Teachers in Reading and Math performed a cheer for the audience.

"Pom-poms, horns, music and plenty of encouragement was the atmosphere for the students," said Payne.

At the end of the pep-rally, everyone participated in a line dance to the cha-cha slide. The Lemonade Company also donated gallons of lemonade for all students.

"This was a great TAKS pep-rally that showed the dedication of the community and the staff to help build our students' confidence," said Payne.
