Reagan Diamond Backers bring home first place summer camp awards

The Reagan High School Diamond Dancers earned top marks at the ShowMakers of America (SMA) Blinn summer camp this past week. The girls came together as a new team to win first place for both the home routine and the camp dance. Along with winning first place, the Diamond Dancers won the Sweepstakes award and Grand Champions. The girls also received Most Disciplined team for day two and Team of the Day for day three. There were also several individual awards achieved by the team. Twenty-three out of 26 girls received All-star ribbons for individual evaluations for the camp dance. Lexi Buentello, Desiree Kostelnik, and Gracie Roberts were Miss High Kick Finalists. Jerricah Franz, Jessica Butcher, Kiersten Blair, Lauren Fischer, Desiree Kostelnik, Gracie Roberts, and Lexi Buentello were Miss Turns Finalists. Miss Leaps Finalists were Gracie Roberts, Desiree Kostelnik, Kiersten Blair, Lexi Buentello, and Jen Stephenson. Throughout camp, Superlatives are given by ShowMaker Staff members who watch for exceptional attitudes within the girls to see who stands out. Superlatives were given to Jerricah Franz, Jessica Butcher, Ashley Taylor, Jillian DiPaola, Jen Stephenson, and Lexi Buentello. Out of the group of Superlatives, Staff members select runners up and Miss ShowMaker. Jillian DiPaola was awarded Runner up Miss ShowMaker. In addition, the Diamond Dancers nominated their director Valeria Rodriguez for a Director Who Makes a Difference award. "I am very proud of the girls' hard work and success," said Rodriguez. "It's going to be a great year."
